At the top of the steep Southwestern slopes of Koutsi, we cultivate our Agiorgitiko vines with an eye towards the creation of a red wine of an exceptional personality and a great aging potential, aiming to take all the compounds needed in a really small number of grapes.

The winemaking is done in such a way that the already dense grape can be expressed in wine in the most absolute and complete way. The very long extraction after fermentation is the key point of the first phase of the vinification. Afterwards, the new wine will mature for at least of 12 months in new 225 liter French oak casks. The origin of the forest and the degree of burning, the way of cutting the used wood and every small detail, has been examined and chosen so we eventually get a wine with a high complex personality.

Ultimately, GAIA ESTATE is bottled directly from the barrel without prior treatments such as chilling or filtration. In this way, we preserve the best of all the essential elements of our wine.

GAIA ESTATE has a deep red-black color, complex and high intense aromatic profile with elements of fruit, wood, vanilla and carnation. Mouth filling, volume, body, structure and flavor complement the character of this unusual Nemea.

Without a doubt, this is an aging wine. Under proper cellar conditions and temperature 12ο-14ο C it continues to evolve into an even better and more structured wine for the next 20 years.

Remember to spend GAIA ESTATE in a decanting, at least half an hour before you enjoy it. Its new dimension that will emerge will excite you!

It consists of a shallow (70-80cm) clay layer that lies upon the lime mother soil with relatively neutral ph. Low organic content, like most of the limestone soils in Greece. On the slopes of the hills where most of the vineyards are located, the soils drain quite well but are exposed to erosion.

Cold and humid winters with low temperatures that rarely drop below the freezing point. Summers are warm, without excessively high temperatures and with few showers during June. Typically, a long autumn follows the summer. The warm September days with significantly colder nights and the dry conditions synthesize an ideal weather pattern for a good maturation.  The total rain precipitations (600-700mm annually) occur mainly between October and March.

Owned for 40 years in the semi-mountainous commune KOUTSI in NEMEA, at an altitude of 450-550 m with an intense slope # 15% & N-S.W direction. This vineyard is pruned very strictly in order to reduce its high fertile buds.
